Pacifiers
Some research suggests that using a pacifier may reduce the risk of SIDS.

  • If breastfeeding, do not offer a pacifier until breastfeeding is well-established
  • Don't worry if the pacifier falls out of the baby's mouth during sleep, you don't need to replace it
  • Never force your baby to use a pacifier if they don't want it
  • Never coat the pacifier in anything sweet
  • Never add a string or ribbon to the pacifier
  • Offer the pacifier for all sleeps (both nap and night time)
