The purpose of this 21 minute DVD is to ensure that parents do not blame themselves for the loss of their child, to provide further information about SIDS and to promote a healthy grieving process. Traditional teachings say that a child chooses you as their parent, because of what you can offer. Traditional teachings also say that the child can be the teacher, offering parents and the family the ability to grow and learn. Traditional people encourage grieving parents to talk, with Elders, with family, or friends. Through discussion and testimonial, this video looks at the grieving process and provides support within the context of traditional First Nations teachings.
