As a not-for-profit organization, the financial support of our friends and partners is critical to our ongoing efforts to understand SIDS, and to provide effective peer-to-peer support to those families affected by SIDS and other unexpected infant and child deaths including stillbirth and miscarriage.

Our current funding priorities are twofold:

1) Highest Priority Fund

Contributions to the CFSID Highest Priority Fund enable the Foundation to continue to pursue its mission of advocating and educating Canadians about safe sleep practices, providing bereavement support for which we are known, and assisting families suffering the devastation of babies lost to SIDS, SUDC, stillbirth or miscarriage.

2) Research and Scholarships
Contributions to our CFSID Research and Scholarship Fund will enable the Foundation to support lectureships, scholarships and research within the SIDS, infant death and bereavement support fields. Such support is directed with input from the CFSID Research and Medical Advisory Committee.

There are a variety of ways you can make a gift to CFSID:

Online Gifts:

The Canadian Foundation for the Study of Infant Deaths accepts donations online through Canada Helps. This is an easy and direct way to provide support directly to our Foundation, receiving an electronic receipt directly from Canada Helps.

A Special Note About Gifts in Memory:

We are honoured to receive many gifts each year made in memory of those who have passed. Whether these gifts are made in honour of babies lost to SIDS, or in tribute to volunteers associated with our organization, each gift is valued tremendously.

Please contact us for any assistance you may require to establish gifts in memory of a loved one. Our online giving portal provided through CanadaHelps provides the opportunity to establish online Giving Pages (click here) where you can set up a personalized appeal to share with friends and family online, allowing for you to share a picture of your loved one and some text for easy online distribution.

Other Special Giving Opportunities:

The Canadian Foundation for the Study of Infant Deaths is pleased to offer several special options for those who are interested in providing significant financial support to our organization.

We are pleased to accept:

Major Gifts

These are significant contributions to support priorities identified jointly with a supporter.  Such gifts could result in the creation of named funds, equipment purchases, named research initiatives and other special priorities.

Endowed Gifts

Similar to major gifts, these significant contributions can support a variety of initiatives.  Such gifts are invested in perpetuity, and can be named as a lasting tribute to a friend or loved one.

Planned Gifts

Planned gifts generally refer to intended contributions made within a donor's will.  There are a variety of ways to make a planned gift to CFSID, and we are pleased to provide guidance upon request.

Gifts of Securities

Gifts of securities (stock / bonds) may be made in any amount, and in support of any of the activities of our Foundation.  Donating publicly traded securities is a tax-smart way to support the Canadian Foundation for the Study of Infant Deaths.  Not only will you receive a tax receipt for the full fair market value of the donated securities, but you will also be exempt from any tax on the shares' capital gains.  There are tax advantages to donating securities regardless of the current market conditions.

Sponsorships

We undertake a variety of activities across Canada, and have a need to coordinate many more. We are often in need of corporate sponsors to enable special events to happen, and welcome any such offers of support.  We also require sponsorships to enable our Foundation and medical professionals to participate in conferences and workshops they would otherwise not have the resources to participate in.

Special Event Proceeds

Whether through special event fundraisers at schools, runs, walks or rides, we are pleased to provide support to efforts that aim to raise funds and build awareness through community and family activities. Simply contact our office to discuss your event idea (or to consider some ideas with us), and we will provide you with support to help make your efforts successful.
