Laurie Smith has been active with CFSID for 25 years, since her daughter, Allison died in 1981.

Laurie is a registered Social Worker with a special interest in Bereavement Issues.

Laurie was instrumental in the development of the Thunder Bay Council and has been a member of the Board Directors (19894-1998).

Currently Laurie acts as a peer support contact for the Red Deer Area of Alberta.

Laurie is active in her community, Blackfalds, and worked for 5 years to help build the community. Population has grown by more than 50%.

Laurie feels she can help CFSID set goals and build capacity throughout Canada.
